You might think Anna is just a simple name — and in some ways, it is. But the meaning behind my nickname (and pen name) is anything but ordinary. It carries a deep spiritual weight, rooted in my personal journey with God and the prophetic anointing He has placed on my life.
You see, I identify with the “Anna anointing,” inspired by the story of Anna the prophetess in the Bible. Her powerful yet brief appearance is found in Luke 2:36–38 — read it here.
📖 Who Was Anna the Prophetess
Anna was a prophetess from the tribe of Asher. After being widowed early in life, she dedicated the rest of her years to fasting, praying, and worshiping in the temple. When Mary and Joseph brought baby Jesus to the temple to be dedicated (Luke 2:25–38), Anna instantly recognized Him as the long-awaited Messiah. She gave thanks and began speaking about the child to all who were awaiting Jerusalem’s redemption.
That’s what I do — I minister about the Trinity and the truth of who Jesus is, to whomever I’m assigned, through whatever medium God gives me: writing, music, dance, sport, language, or art.
💫 My Prophetic Anointing: The Anna Calling
Like Anna, my calling is rooted in intercession, prophetic insight, and the ability to recognize God’s presence. My purpose is to point people to Jesus and help them see God for who He really is.
My anointing’s character lies in God’s love, and because I feel that love deeply, I’m able to share it freely. The Holy Spirit is my helper, comforter, and strength — He guides everything I do.
My life hasn’t been easy. I’ve been through hell and back in my short 36 years on this earth. But I know this much: I’ve been trained and called for such a time as this.
📚 A Book That Inspires My Identity
One book I keep returning to is The Anna Anointing: Become a Woman of Boldness, Power, and Strength by Michelle McClain-Walters. It’s a powerful guide that helps me understand and refresh my sense of who God has created and called me to be. If you’re curious about the prophetic call on women’s lives — especially the kind like Anna’s — this book is a must-read.
🔖 Final Thoughts
So that’s the meaning behind my name — Anna. It’s more than a nickname. It’s a reflection of my prophetic purpose, a name I carry with boldness, humility, and deep gratitude.
Whether you stumbled onto this post out of curiosity or you’re seeking your own calling, I hope my story encourages you to embrace who God created you to be — with boldness, power, and truth.
