It’s Your Voice: A Poem of Love, Longing, and Spiritual Connection

It’s your voice that makes everything better.
It’s your voice that lets my heart sink deep,
that translates creativity into art.
It’s your voice that guides me into oblivion,
gentle, soft,
beyond recognition to anyone but us.

It’s the voice that draws me closer,
closer to you —
to your heart,
your thoughts,
your words,
your wit.

It’s your laugh —
that laugh,
that ugly laugh,
the one I want to hear again and again.

It’s you.
It’s you.
It’s you.
It’s you.

It’s your voice that lets me believe life can be better.
Your voice that translates into love,
piercing my heart even when I’m struggling.

It’s your voice that breaks through
the sadness,
the heavy dominion of the world.

It’s the voice, your voice,
that translates into love, into liquid love,
that fills up all my holes and inner niceties.

It’s your voice that makes me love,
the voice that speaks to my heart,
that speaks to my soul.

It’s your voice that connects our souls.

I love you.
But do I love you?
I don’t know,
but it’s your voice that I want to marry.

It’s your voice that makes me go,
Wow. What?
Who is this person?
Who is this person?
Who’s the real you?

It’s your voice that pierces
the hearts and minds of the world—
a whisper, a storm, a song,
that refuses to be silenced.

It’s your voice that makes me want to love again,
that gentle caress of my soul
when I hear your voice through song and melody.

It’s your wit and creativity that draws me in.
It’s your voice that I want to marry,
and that’s how it started.

It’s your voice that makes everything beautiful.

Amen.
