The Gift of the Heart: Why Sensitivity is a Divine Strength, Not a Weakness

The Holy Spirit is my voice.
The Holy Spirit is my spirit.
And that’s different from my brother Jesus who lives inside of me.

They’re all different.

My gifts are the Spirit in flesh form.
My gifts are the Spirit of God made flesh.
I can never be bad at a thing—because how can God’s Spirit be bad?
How can God contradict Himself?
Scripture says God can never and will never contradict Himself.
So how can He ever be bad—when He is a good Father, with all things good in mind for us?

So how can we ever be bad in something?

I have the gift of the heart.

And for the longest time, I thought it was a weakness.

But God showed me—it was a gift.

He said people are drawn to me like a moth to a flame because I’ve been given the gift of the heart.

What is the Gift of the Heart?

  • Compassion
That heart-felt feeling when something bad happens to someone else—and something inside of me jerks.
Later, that becomes empathy, because I start to feel what that person must’ve gone through.
  • The “Like” quality
You know, I had this boss.
He always used to say, “You know, you have this likable quality about you.”
I never thought much of it—until one early Wednesday morning at about 2:31 AM.
That’s when God revealed to me what the “like” quality really meant.
  • The Heart of Understanding
This is the most important of them all.
    With understanding comes love.
I never got this until that night.
    With understanding must come love.

Because it is impossible to truly understand someone without loving them.
And it’s impossible—but somehow possible—to love someone without knowing them if you possess this gift.
That is God’s kind of love—unconditional, without prerequisites.

“But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” – Romans 5:8

  • The Heart of Kindness
This is the most precious one.
This is the part of you that wants to give someone everything, without skipping a heartbeat.
This is the part of you that tries to be someone’s everything because you just know—they need some kind of restoration.
This is you, trying to be their good shepherd.
But we can never be the Shepherd.

We can only help Jesus by pointing people in the direction of the Father.
That’s our only part in their journey.
That’s what it means to be the salt of the earth.

The Holy Spirit gives you gifts—and then teaches you how to use them and when to use them.

So no—you weren’t being “weak” in the world’s eyes when you reached out to your ex-girlfriend or ex-boyfriend.

No, you were not.

What you were doing was exercising your gift of the heart—that has been given to you by the Spirit of your Father.

You are not weak.
If anything—you are stronger.

Not better than those who were not granted this gift.

“Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ… The eye cannot say to the hand, ‘I don’t need you!’ And the head cannot say to the feet, ‘I don’t need you!’”
– 1 Corinthians 12:12, 21

We all serve different functions. All are needed. All are equal.

But for those who have the gift of the heart—this is your strength.
Your quiet strength.

“In quietness and in trust shall be your strength.” – Isaiah 30:15

You are strong enough.
You are able enough.
And you can do it un-apologetically.

You are courageous enough to do it—without explaining yourself to anyone.

This gift of the heart was difficult for me to grasp on my own.

But God…

He came.
He defined it.
And He refined it.

“But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you.” – John 14:26

Because the world only sees it as a weakness, not a strength.
But in fact—it is a strength.

“They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.” – John 17:16

We are in the world, yes. But we are not of it.
So why should we let the world define our gifts?
The world may label it “soft” or “too emotional” or “weak”—but heaven calls it strength.
Heaven calls it purpose.
Heaven calls it anointed.
